ABOUT THE FOUNDATION TRUST
About the Auckland Grammar School Foundation Trust
Throughout its history, Auckland Grammar School has been a leader in state secondary education. The School has produced academic and sporting results that are unsurpassed in New Zealand, including:
- 16 Girdler's and Myers Scholars to Cambridge University;
- 26 Rhodes Scholars to Oxford University;
- 3 Robertson Scholarships to Duke University;
- 6 Sir George Elliot Scholars and
- 53 All Blacks
A rigorous academic education is combined with the wider development of the whole person. Auckland Grammar encourages each boy to recognise and pursue his individual potential to the full, and to attain excellence in acquiring the knowledge, skills and the sense of value which the School has always provided. Auckland Grammar School continues to produce young men who go on to thrive in the wider community.
The School must hold fast to its tradition of excellence, through which it can ensure its future pre-eminence in secondary education. The Board of Trustees has been planning strategically to secure this future, and the Auckland Grammar School Foundation Trust was established in 2000 for this purpose.
The Trust's aims are to promote the advancement of education by charitable means through the Academic Endowment Fund. The Academic Endowment Fund has been designed to help keep our best teachers in the classroom by allowing the Board of Trustees to recruit, retain and reward top teachers. The Academic Endowment Fund provides a unique opportunity to enhance the high standard of education provided for boys attending this institution and will allow the School to consistently deliver the teaching excellence which Grammar is famous for.
In 2020, the Foundation Trust gave out some 46 awards to teachers at Auckland Grammar School who received a substantial financial reward to recognise outstanding performance and exceptional commitment. If each member of the Grammar community gives a little, the students will gain a lot.
